ABSTRACT: The enhancement of the educational system cannot just be attained through the utilisation of traditional media technologies. Audiovisual aids, as instructional resources, play a significant role in facilitating the teaching and learning processes. This study seeks to investigate the use of audiovisual aids in the instruction of art education within the Department of Education at the University of Uyo. The research employed a descriptive survey design, incorporating four research topics for investigation. The study encompasses the entire population of teachers and students within the Faculty of Education at the University of Uyo. The methodology employed in this research was the utilisation of basic random selection procedures to choose art education departments from the faculty of education at the University of Uyo. The total number of respondents included in the study was one hundred and fifty (150). The data collection instrument employed in this study was a questionnaire utilising a four-point scale. The measure of central tendency, specifically the mean, was employed in addressing the study inquiries.  The findings of the analysis indicate that certain educational institutions exhibit a deficiency in the provision of audiovisual aids, thereby impeding the effectiveness of the teaching and learning process. Additionally, it is evident that certain educators lack proficiency in utilising audiovisual aids. Furthermore, the limited availability of consistent power supply and time constraints emerge as significant factors that restrict the utilisation of audiovisual aids within the department.
